If you’re a pet lover I’m sure you’ll agree that they are an integral part of our families.
Ingredients like Sodium Laurel Sulphate (SLS) [the foaming agent] and parabens [a preservative] can certainly cause irritation to our own skin - so check this out:
In animal studies, 10% SLS caused acute corneal damage. And it’s not just direct eye contact that is the problem. According to the American College of Toxicology, "tests show permanent eye damage in young animals from skin contact in non-eye areas". So bathing that puppy with a product containing SLS, even though you’re very careful to keep it away from his/her eyes, can still cause eye damage!
Shampoos for people generally contain about 30% SLS - WOW - maybe that’s why they say not to get it in your eyes! How much SLS is in your current dog shampoo or horse shampoo?
Any idea? No, neither do we.
So, are you prepared to risk your pet’s eyesight? We’re definitely not!
OK, if you’re looking for a natural pet shampoo - one that won’t damage their eyes or irritate their sensitive skin - here it is - check out the ingredients on the right and then go to our ecofreNZ shop
